The movie Pompeii has brought forth a part of Italy that few people seem to know about. The regular traveller will tell you that Italy is an old country with lots of museums, great food and spectacular beaches on the Mediterranean coast. Few however, have had a chance to see the volcanic mountains of Italy. The likes of Mount Vesuvius, Vilcano, Lipari, Lauro, Etna, Campi flegrei, Alicudi, Amiata, Salina, Stromboli are not very widely known. Here is a chance to see and subsequently visit several off-the-beaten-path destinations inside Italy.
